I grew up in a small town in eastern North Carolina. I got my first itch to do hair when I was 12 years old and got hold of my first bottle of hair bleach and turned myself into a beautiful calico blonde. When I was first allowed to get a job, I was a shampoo assistant at Moonie's Beauty Case that was located downtown in that small town. Fast forward 10 years after graduating college and moving to California, I received my formal training in the art of hair at Paul Mitchell, The School in Costa Mesa, California in 2001 and began working at The David Salon in Costa Mesa, California. I then relocated to Savannah, GA in 2003. It was in Savannah that I got to work on a few photo shoots for Savannah Magazine and South Magazine. In 2012, I got the opportunity to work on my first film, a little indie horror flick called The Sacrament. From there, I have had the pleasure of working on a wide array of film and television shows spanning from the Civil War era, with The Birth of a Nation, to modern day, The Act on Hulu, to recreating 3 decades of hairstyles on George & Tammy on Showtime. Since January of 2013, I have been a journeyman in good standing for IATSE 798 Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Union.
I have continued to advance my education by receiving training from DevaCurl, Vidal Sassoon Miami, Pivot Point Chicago, Bumble and Bumble New York, Keune Hair Cosmetics Holland, and countless others. I earned my Hair Design Instructor Certification for the state of Georgia in 2010. In April 2013, I was certified in the texture service, the Arrojo American Wave. I studied on On-Set Hair Design in 2014 with Hollywood hairstylist Susan Lipson. In 2016, I trained under the accomplished Sharon Blaine for her editorial workshop. In May of 2018, I went to Las Vegas to learn the art of Wig Making from the amazingly talented hair department of Cirque de Soleil. I have my cosmetology license for the states of California, Georgia and South Carolina. I am an American Board Certified Hair Colorist, and worked as a technical trainer, educator, and front and back stage crew for Keune Hair Cosmetics. I am also certified in a variety of hair extension methods, getting may latest certification in 2021 with Invisible Bead Extension (IBE), Permanent Thermal Straightening and Keratin Treatments (though I do not offer Keratin services anymore due to the health risks associated with them).
I am passionate about continuing to learn all different types of period hair styles on all types of hair, and continually looking for volunteers to let me practice on their hair.
